摘 要：The new challenges posed by the pandemic and digital transformation would require areimagination of how we transform the education system and address the future manpowerneeds. Countries must continue to invest in education and research to remain competitive.As teaching and research are the yin and the yang of successful universities, it is important tounderstand the teaching-research connections. If you have teaching without research, yourisk not creating new knowledge. If you have research without teaching, you risk impartingpast knowledge. So, what are the new skill sets and attributes in preparing young people toexcel and succeed in the 21st century? To answer this question, a new education model in anew era is proposed.In addition, the fourth industrial revolution will change the world dramatically. The impact willbe far greater than its three predecessors.

報告人簡介：YEO Kiat Seng（楊杰圣），男，新加坡工程院院士 、新加坡國家科學院院士、亞太人工智能協會 (AAIA) 會士和 IEEE會士。曾任新加坡科技設計大學創始副教務長、研究委員會主席、終身教授，南洋理工大學“復興工程計劃”院士、終身教授，新加坡國家研究基金會創新研究計劃主席，華為研究中心咨詢理事會理事，河南納米光電子杰出外籍科學家工作室首席科學家。自2000年以來，作為首席研究員從各種資助機構和行業獲得了超過7000萬新元的研究資金，出版了10本書、7個書籍章節、600多篇國際頂級期刊和會議論文，并擁有38項專利，轉讓27項。 自2020起連續三年入選斯坦福全球前2%頂尖科學家，連續7年擔任新加坡最高科學獎（總統科學獎）評委，2009年國慶日獲新加坡共和國總統頒授公共行政獎章（銅獎），2009年獲頒南洋校友成就獎，2020年獲新加坡共和國總統授予國慶長期服務獎章。
